Clear cell acanthoma

This entity is a benign epidermal tumor. The typical clinical presentation is a solitary pink-red, shiny papule or plaque on the lower extremities of middle aged women. Microscopically, this lesion will have an acanthotic proliferation of pale to clear cells that are abruptly distinct from the adjacent normal epithelium. There is no risk of malignant progression, and biopsy of the lesion is generally curative.
